YouView Recording Schedule Problem

On Saturday 25th May 2026, I want to record on ITV HD "Bullseye for Soccer Aid" at 17:55‐19:00. I highlight the programme on the guide and press the R (record) button on the remote. It won't show the red record icon on the guide so I can't record it. There's nothing else scheduled for recording so it's not because there are too many recordings (and even if there were the box tells you). It'll will let me highlight both ITV Evening News & ITV News Granada Reports to be recorded before Bullseye but not Bullseye itself. As a test, I tried to record Britain's Got Talent but that "can't be recorded" either, but Nobody's Fool after BGT "can be recorded". I restarted the YouView box to rule out a glitch but that didn't help.

What is going on here?

Just tried that with Crystal Palace and ITV HD, (for 23rd May2026).
New: Bullseye for Soccer Aid is set to record OK, but New: Britain's Got Talent for me behaves as you have described.

When it refuses to set the recording the following is displayed at the top of the screen:
"The programme can't be recorded. Please try again later.".

@mike20021969 When you say that you restarted the Youview box, did you mean a factory reset? You can do this by selecting the factory reset option to keep recordings and that may resolve your issue. The downside of doing this is that you then have to sign into all of the apps that you use again. I have tried to set the programme that you want to record on our box as a test and it was successful.

Edit : We have a problem with setting the recording for BGT too.

It is possible that ITV may have been changing their scheduless and the individual box (schedule) and the Youview schedule/data for the programme is inconsistent. That would normally get realligned over time.

@Brucemeister5I just switched the box off via the switch on the rear, left it for 5 minutes or so then switched it back on.
I'd rather miss the programme than do a factory reset.
Switching on/off helped with the same problem but a different programme a while back but not this time.

As both you & @Luke have similar but with BGT, it looks like the problem is not just me.

I also see the Bullseye episode (23rd not 25th as I originally said) is repeated the next day on Sunday 24th at 17:45~18:35, and I can record that. But I'm still curious as to why Saturday is a problem.

My box is in Aerial Mode.
I've now tried out what happens if the internet connection is severed.
Apart from the obvious and expected things, the guide for the offending BGT episode now displays as "No Information Available", while all the others entries that I have looked at appear to be OK in displaying the freeview version of the details instead of Youview's.

The error message of "The programme can't be recorded. Please try again later." appears at the top of the screen when trying to record. It is easily missed, and is removed as soon as any other button of the remote is pressed or after about 6 seconds, which ever is sooner.

Only an observation … @mike20021969 The Sunday Bullseye for Soccer aid programme seems to have a schedule time of 50 minutes , the Saturday 23rd has a schedule time of 65minutes. Even allowing for different advert break durations 15 minutes seems a large variation. Again only an observation is that currently ITV have the Saturday edition scheduled between two live programmes .. the regional news and the live edition of the BGT semifinal…

Is that not occurring for both "New:Bullseye for Soccer Aid" and "New: Britain's Got Talent" for the 23rd May ?

At least for the EE TV Box that I am viewing the fault has gone.

Bullseye's still not recordable for me (22nd May), neither is BGT (for testing purposes). I'll try again tomorrow...
