Will and EE TV BOX PRO WORK WITH VODAFONE Home Fibre Connection?

I like the spec of the box, the internal WiFi connection and have used when EE was my home fibre provider.

Now my home provider is Vodafone....if I buy one of these boxes will it still work?...I have heard some say yes and some say no.

Obviously any specific EE TV packages will not work...but regular Freeview recording?...are the usual catch up Apps all available like iPlayer ITVX etc?...and will the 7 day guide work?

I don't think this box is sold outside of the EE framework.

it may work but none of the subscription stuff will

just get a freely box and connect it to tv

Yes, recordings and most apps will work fine, however the TV Box Pro remains the property of EE at all times (even if you believe that you bought one legitimately), so there's no guarantee that it'll continue working in future.
You'd be better buying a box that is intended to be sold standalone - e.g. as @shakey1981 has suggested

Thanks for the reply, I have a Manhattan T4 currently and its dreadful, was hoping to go back to the BT/EE one...

It seems from answers across the internet that it will work.

these remain property of bt and are not souppsed to be resold there for if EE fnd out this has been sold they may be able to block its use by an ota update up to you but i would not chance it

The aging pro box is basically just a freeview pvr

It'll work perfectly with freeview and any subscription services you pay for including sky sports through now in UHD...something which EE subscribers are denied

Ignore the Freely suggestions as it cannot record and never will do ...something considerable to consider if you're after a pvr

A freely box simply isn't an alternative for a pro box

The OP clearly mentioned recording freeview

Also freeview and freely are not the same the latter missing many freeview channels

The only real decent freely box is the manhatten areo which doesn't even have now tv

Also

Since the dawn of time BT/EE youview boxes have been available on ebay, cex etc.

If EE were going to sabotage them surely they would have done it by now.

@BhfpkiiL1 My understanding is that the Pro tv box does not currently support Sky Sports UHD via the NOW app even if you have a direct subscription with NOW. If you want to enjoy UHD you would need to use a device which supports it.

I didn't think the pro box was UHD compatible for Now???

Just in case you weren't aware, IP mode won't work either, so you'll have to use an aerial.

Think people are getting confused with now through EE which isn't allowed access to UHD content, and buying now tv directly and accessing it through the now app on the pro box which shows UHD perfectly .

Any device with access to the now app which is UHD capable will show sky UHD content

Last I knew, NOW hadn't updated the app on the EE TV boxes to support UHD - regardless of subscription type. I can't say definitively that they haven't updated it since. Only someone with a UHD sub could say for sure.

No confusion, I'm afraid you're assertion is simply wrong, as confirmed by Now's list of supported devices.

As @DarrenDev says, the Now app has never supported UHD on the Pro Box & still doesn't. UHD content simply isn't offered
