BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

So I've had the router for a few years now and never really had many problems with it. But recently it has been occasionally disconnecting from the internet for about a minute or so then reconnecting, the broadband light goes a flickering orange then back to solid blue after about a minute. I've never had this problem before and it has only started happening since a few days ago.

Could anyone help me find a solution to this problem?

Thanks.

Re: BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

Hi,

Have you tried the test socket? Located behind master socket removable bottom faceplate (see picture)

if you have connection at the moment then, To enable us to look into your Broadband Problem, please follow below:

1) are you conneted to the master socket or test socket?

2) can your post your BT Speedtest results by using http://speedtester.bt.com (not beta version) [best done with a wired connection ie ethernet]

3) Have you tried a quite line test. Dial 17070 option2 from landline, there should be no distinctive noise but slight 'dull' hum normal on cordless phones

4) can you post your adsl line statistics

ADSL Line Stats Help

If you have a BT Home Hub like the one below...

Then:

1) Go to http://192.168.1.254 or http://bthomehub.home

2) click Settings

3) Click Advanced Settings

4) Click Broadband

5) Click Connection or sometimes called ADSL (see picture Below)

The direct Address is http://bthomehub.home/index.cgi?active_page=9116 (for bthomehub3)

cheers

Re: BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

1) I think I'm using test socket.

2)1. Best Effort Test: -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 3.49 Mbps

0 Mbps4 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 3.49 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 1.2 Mbps-4 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 4 Mbps

2. Upstream Test: -provides background information.

 Upload Speed
 0.62 Mbps

0 Mbps0.83 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.62Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

3)Yeah there's no noise at all really.

Re: BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

your noise margin is ok, but your sync rate is still poor for your Line attenuation. For your line length (approx. 2.8km) I would have estimated a sync rate at around 9000-9568kbps on ADSL2+ for a good line.

Is it possible to stay connected in test socket for a few hours and see if it can maintain a connection.

cheers

Re: BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

Hi
I know this is an old post, but did you get anywhere with this?
I have a similar problem but can't decide whether it is a physical issue (rainy days..) or when my Outlook IMAP connection is generating a lot of traffic to external (gmail) email servers.

Just wondering if BT have an undocumented "spambot" limiting cutoff somewhere. If I run Outlook regularly, then no problem. I f I don't connect for a few days then hey presto, every mail sync causes a disconnection...

Your feedback would be really good to hear.

Alex.

Re: BT HomeHub 2 keeps disconnecting and reconnecting to broadband?

There are known problems with the home hub 2.

Reported problems with the Home Hub 2.0

If the home hub is restarting on its own, then that may be the reason.
