Broadband keeps disconnecting

My BT broadband keeps disconnecting, it has been happening every now and then for a few days but now its getting worse and worse, tonight it feels like every couple of mins. Ive connected the router directly into the master socket now with no other equipment attached and the problem hasn't improved.

Figures from the home hub are below. The noise margin keeps going up and down constantly between about 6dB and 10dB.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to sort this, its getting quite anoying.

Re: Broadband keeps disconnecting

Hi Welcome to the forums

Here are some help pages done by CL Keith http://forumhelp.dyndns.org/speed/Speed.html

Can you also post the full results from BT Speedtest speedtester.bt.com

Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket  Test Socket.jpg

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Re: Broadband keeps disconnecting

Test socket makes no difference.

Speed test results:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 5.97 Mbps

For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps

Additional Information: Your DSL Connection Rate :7.62 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)

IP Profile for your line is - 6.5 Mbps

I only have access to a cordless phone and the quiet line test seems to have some noise that comes and goes. Almost sounds like an old radio with bad reception if that makes sense.

Re: Broadband keeps disconnecting

hi the quiet line test should be totally silent when using a cordless phone just a dull hum should be heard you need to report that to BT Faults on 151 but do not mention broadband in the call once the noise is cured your broadband will improve

Re: Broadband keeps disconnecting

did you try the quiet line test from the test socket just in case the noise was from your internal wiring?
