So i went onto the chat function to report a problem with my broadband and guess what, I lost connection to the chat due to broadband dropping out.....

Hi @oldschooljon and welcome.
I'm sorry you've had problems reporting the dropping connection. Are you still having problems? Can you try a quite line test by connecting the phone directly to the test socket behind the master faceplate and dialling 17070 option 2. If there is noise then you need to report a line fault to 151. can you try that test and let me know how you get on?
