Strange, because with username set to joe.bloggs, I kept getting password error while synching. Changing username to joe.bloggs@btinternet.com got rid of the error and it now works fine....:smileysurprised:

Hi Christine, this is one of the things I usually recommend, and visa versa - however the problem for the original poster was something different and an actual account type problem.

I am trying to set up my in-laws email account on Windows 7 windows live mail.

 

the problem I am having is that it is not accepting the settings, he was originallly on a ******@talk21.com account so what should I put in the  incoming / outgoing boxes  in.talk21.com or in.btinternet.com ?

 

Any help would be appreciated.

 

we keep getting a 0x800CCC90 error message and window live mail error is 0x800ccc18

Just got new lap top Windows 7 and keep getting the following error message!  Can receive emails but not send, any suggestions gratefully received.

 

The server does not support a SSL connection.

Subject ''
Server Error: 250
Server Response: 250 8BITMIME
Server: 'mail.btinternet.com'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC7D
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 25
Secure(SSL): Yes

change the secure (SSL) to No

Hi. In addition to setting the SSL to No, make sure that you've ticked the box "My server requires authentication"
