Re: ADSL Max, extremely slow following phone fault (0.1Mb download at best)

Go to solution

Out of interest, why the reluctance to reset manually, if it will resolve the issue quicker? I'm not sure I see the benefit in waiting if there is an alternative approach? Perhaps administrative effort I guess..

Also, I've just had a call from BT who have advised me to restart my Hub, as they are resetting the IP Range manually - now, i'm in a bit of a quandary, as to date this forum (and yourself) have been far more responsive than BT directly, but perhaps they're talking about the exact thing you mention?

OK literally 5 minutes after the call from BT, these are the results I'm seeing - quite the improvement!

Download speedachieved during the test was - 1.8 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :3.68 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 3 Mbps

Re: ADSL Max, extremely slow following phone fault (0.1Mb download at best)

..and I'm back - same old problem, IP Profile down to 0.33, another ticket raised with BT. Broadband has been up ever since the last time I visited this forum, albeit intermittently slow, typically within the rang of 0.5 - 1. This is just about acceptable, but when it drops below the 0.5 mark, it just becomes a pain in the a$$, streaming/downloads/multi-device usage is just awful.

I've gone through all the usual tests, can anything be done?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.33 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.05 Mbps-0.5 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :0.51 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 0.35 Mbps

Thanks..

Chris

this not same as before   last time you has 3mb speed but low profile whereas this time your speed is only 0.51mb and the profile is correct for that speed.  can you post the adsl stats from your router please

are you conencted to test socket or have you moved?

try quiet line test and check for noise as something has caused your connection speed to drop

Re: ADSL Max, extremely slow following phone fault (0.1Mb download at best)

that last reset about 6min ago restored your conenction speed back to 4.2mb but profile still at 0.35mb due to the previously low conenction speed of about 0.5mb.  you now need to maintain a stable conenction 24/7 for 3/5 days maybe sooner and your profile should recover automatcally

Ah, ok, thanks imjolly - so what's the recommended best practice, should i restart my hub on a regular basis to ensure the connection speed logged is up-to-date, and therefore my IP profile reflecting actual speed?

no the best thing is a stable connection 24/7 with no resets.  if you maintain conenction then profile will correct itself
