Broadband Drops Every Evening Around 6-7pm Through to 11-11.30pm

For the last 2-3 weeks our broadband has regularly dropped at peak use periods, normally 6-7pm to 11-11.30pm weekdays and more prolonged periods at weekends. We have had 2 engineer visits during, both during non-peak times, the first claimed to have solved the problem but after 24 hours it again dropped out during the following evening. A second engineer call told us the problem was with the extension but this was not picked up by the first engineer. We then had a full 24 hours of uninterrupted broadband connection, but it’s now back to the same issue. If the extension is the problem, why is it ok off-peak?? This is rapidly becoming a repeat of others’ problems ... all seeming the same problem. How do I get this resolved??!

Re: Broadband Drops Every Evening Around 6-7pm Through to 11-11.30pm

have you tried connecting to the test socket with a filter and see if that improves your hub stability  this will eliminate your extension socket as a problem but you could check that while in test socket there is no dial tone at any of your extension sockets whether in use or not

This sounds like a REIN issue.
Take a look at this link, it explains it all

Engineers have checked both the master socket and the extension and confirmed these are ok. However, their visits are at non-peak use times and that very same evening the broadband drops again.

Re: Broadband Drops Every Evening Around 6-7pm Through to 11-11.30pm

can you clarify what your mean by 'broadband drops' - internet connection drops or your download speed reduces.  if the latter then run btspeedtester and when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post results   do test when speed appears ok and again when poor   this must be done with wired connection not wireless

which exchange and cab are you on?

Re: Broadband Drops Every Evening Around 6-7pm Through to 11-11.30pm

The latest engineer visit concludes that there is a problem with the line, but Openreach has failed to resolve the problem. We had broadband for many years until the last few weeks following their upgrade and installation of a new cabinet to bring fibre to our location. Openreach say we can get fibre, but MyBT says we can’t. Can someone somewhere offer a solution??

The installation of the fibre cabinet will have made no impact on your connection. Can you post the result of your phone number from here (please remember to blank it out before posting): http://dslchecker.bt.com/
