Broadband disconnects

Go to solution

Hi,

With my router plugged into my master socket via a filter and my house phone plugged into my slave socket in another room,my broadband disconnects whenever you use the phone on the slave socket

Putting a phone in each socket ...they both ring and act normally

Switching the router to the slave and the phone to the master it still disconnects when you use the phone.

ive connect both with and without filters. Still no help.

Any ideas?

It could either be an external fault, something within your house, or a faulty home hub.

Which home hub do you have?

What does your phone master socket look like?

Please can you connect things up as shown below, and see if you still get disconnects when you pickup your phone.

Your extension wiring must be connected to the back of that removable front section. If not, then your internal wiring is incorrect.

Your extension wiring should be as shown below.

Under these conditions the extensions will now be disconnected, and there should be no dial tone on any extension socket.

I’ve done this. No dial tone on my extension when using the test socket.

Do your home hub 4 still disconnect when you pick up the phone, if  you connect it up as shown on my diagram?

No. The extension socket has no dial tone and the phone as per your diagram works normally

Then its your extension wiring which is causing the problem.

Is that master socket the place where you normally plug the home hub into, via a microfilter?
