Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

My broadband service has been down since the 11/11/2013, prior to this date I was able to receive 1.4meg and there after approx 190-256 kb. I have spent countless hours on the phone to India, had numerous appointments for engineers to visit, some turned up, some did'nt. I've had every excuse in the book rolled out to me, my case is being dealt with by a process that is either obliged to or chooses to accept any old bit of tosh sprouted by open reach (least thats what I am lead to believe). Has anyone any constructive suggestions as to what my next move could be.

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

If you enter your phone number can you post the results. REMEMBER to delete phone number before posting. https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

Run btspeedtester and when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post results. http://speedtest.btwholesale.com

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

Thank's for that, I've run the availibility test and this is what it produced.

BT BROADBAND AVAILABILITY CHECKER
Telephone Number 01992******on Exchange LEA VALLEY is served by Cabinet 39

Featured ProductsDownstream Line Rate(Mbps)Upstream Line Rate(Mbps)Downstream Range(Mbps)Availability Date
WBC ADSL 2+Up to 1--1 to 3.5Available
ADSL MaxUp to 1--0.25 to 2Available
WBC Fixed Rate1----Available
Fixed Rate1----Available
Other Offerings
Fibre Multicast------Available

I ran the speed test and it produced:

Download Speed 0.21Mbps

Upload Speed 0.20Mbps

Ping latency 196ms

Running the further diagnostic test produced the following:

Results Image not loaded

1. Best Effort Test:  -provides background information.

 Download  Speed
 0.21 Mbps

0 Mbps0.25 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.21 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.1 Mbps-0.25 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 0.22 Mbps

2. Upstream Test:  -provides background information.

 Upload Speed
 0.2 Mbps

0 Mbps0.45 Mbps
Max Achievable Speed

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.2Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.45 Mbps

We were unable to identify any performance problem with your service at this time.
It is possible that any problem you are currently, or had previously experienced may have been caused by traffic congestion on the Internet or by the server you were accessing responding slowly.
If you continue to encounter a problem with a specific server, please contact the administrator of that server in the first instance.

Please visit the FAQ if you are unable to understand the test results.

I am led to believe that the 20 pair drop line servicing my property has had a tree fall on it and stretch it, causing the problem.

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

Unless you have a hh4/5 can you enter 192.168.1.254 into your browser then enter hub manager the post the adsl stats remembering to 'show detail' to get all error information

Try quiet line test. Dial 17070 option 2 should hear nothing and best with corded phone. If cordless dull hum normal

Are you connected to the test socket?

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

It's a Home hub 4 so no readings as such to report and yes we are connected to the master socket with no other extensions etc. A noise test shows the line to be quiet.

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

As hh4 can you enter 192.168.1.254 into your browser then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 lines together when your hub last connected to the internet and they will connection speed and noise margin. When you find them can you post please

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

I think I found the info

14:48:45, 24 Jan. (1482740.550000) DSL noise margin: 7.00 dB upstream, 6.10 dB downstream
14:48:45, 24 Jan. (1482740.480000) DSL line rate: 352 Kbps upstream, 256 Kbps downstream

Re: Broadband service down since 11/11/2013

That really is low even allowing for your long distance from exchange Can you connect to test socket to eliminate faceplate. Faceplate seldom goes faulty but it does happen
