Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

Stats page:  Noise margin (Down/Up)    30.5 dB / 6.0 dB
Log Entry:  snr Margin Down: 6.4 dB, Up: 29.6 dB

Did you notice that the stats page and the log entry seem to be inconsistent in the reported noise margins with the high/low figures being reversed?

I assume that's just a display bug in the HH2 firmware?

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

Well the internet went down again just now, so I reset the router to it's default settings. Have also ordered a TP-LINK which should arrive on Tuesday.

If the internet doesn't go down I won't install it though until hopefuly the line speed goes back to normal. If it does go down I will install it and see what happens.

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

Well I think the problem is solved now 🙂

After being connected for just over a day, the noise margin has gone down to 6db, and the downstream is now about double the speed that it was before all the problem started! Fingers crossed that everything is ok now, thanks for you help. 🙂

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

Well the line has dropped a couple of times over the last day, but the download speed hasn't suffered (yet).

Got the new router today, will install it next time we lose internet and will see what happens.

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

Could you post the new Homehub stats now things gave improved?
Would also be useful to compare against later if you swap the routers.

Re: Broadband speed gone very slow after noisy line problem fixed

The down noise margin target has been set back to 6dB. This is used at connection time and determines the synced down connection rate.

Possibly a line reset was performed by the system (or someone)? That would set the up/down noise margin targets back to the default of 6dB and trigger a reconnection.

Anyway, looking good speed wise. Will it now be stable and no longer keep dropping the connection is the big question?
