I have a big problem with my ADSL Internet connection, starting with speeds that are nothing around 16 MB or 10 MB. Currently i am getting 2.43 MB/s download speed and 0.05 MB/s upload speed on speedtest.net, and 4.86 MB/s and 0.80 mb/s on BT's connection speed from my house to exchange (they both are still slow, keeping in mind that i am the only person connected to a hub with a wire). Next problem is that the connection isn't stable at all, random disconnects happen often which is pretty stressful for anyone who tries to play any online game. 3rd problem is ping which varies from 80 (when i am the only one using connection through wire) to about 600 or 1000 when 1 more person is connected through wi-fi and watching a clip on youtube.
Everything is connected the way it should be, restarting helps only for about 15 minutes.
Any advice would be appreciated as i am planning to cancel bt contract and get other up to 16 mb provider.
I Would love to switch to fibre but it isn't available for my house (nr 25) yet, although my neighbours which live at number 23 have it available. I have been waiting for over a month hoping it will be available to me too but still nothing.
welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods
in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run btspeedtester (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).
You need to stop resetting the hub is that will just make it worse
are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?
Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal
Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
If you are still in contract and cacel that may be expensive check here.
moving to another provider unless LLU or cable you will just use the same cable from the exchange to your home, get about the same speed just the name on the DD will be different
