DSL Modulation - ADSL_G.dmt

Go to solution

Hi,

For the past few months i've been experiencing complete drop outs of connection during the evenings.

I've noticed recently that my DSL Modulation is coming up as ADSL_G.dmt, the dsl settings on the router are set to Auto.

I'm also getting high line attenuation.

Current Rate (kbps)4483904
Max Rate (kbps)9884156
SNR Margin (dB)1712.8
Line Attenuation (dB)31.550.5
Errors (pkts)017

I've checked and my exchange is adsl 2+ enabled, if I try changing my dsl settings I am unable to connect. How do I fix this and get on ADSL2+ ?

Thanks,

Were you previously on adsl2?  Have you tried connecting to test socket with filter and see if attenuation changes?

Yes I'm a BT Broadband customer.

Unsure, we've always had a poor connection but in the last few months it's got worse. It's always in the evenings we have issues.

It's only recently that I've had the time to actually try and figure out what's wrong.

Just because your exchange is adsl2 enabled does not mean you would have been automatically on adsl2 - and from what you have posted I suspect you have always been on adslmax

have you tried connecting to test socket with filter to see if any change on attenuation or connection speed

the forum mods can help you upgrade to adsl2 but you really need to get a stable connection first

Re: DSL Modulation - ADSL_G.dmt

Ok thanks, I'll try that at the weekend.

We're in a 17th century converted farm house so getting to the socket is not the easiest endeavour, it's in the loft. We only moved in 18 months ago but none of the neighbours have this issue of almost daily drop outs.

I believe we have two lines, as the previous owners had a seperate business line and there are 2 sockets in the loft labeled with different phone numbers.
