Brief overview. Been having intermittent broadband issues for a year now. Had 12 engineers out and they can all see the problem.but not solve it!
Internet just goes through days where it will cut out all day intermittently.
When we moved in to property we were told there were 2 main telephone sockets. 1 is obvious at the bottom of the stairs however we never found the 2nd one.
Cleaning a cupboard out yesterday we have located the following pictures. It's like 4 wires in one from a hole in a wall. Is this telephone wire? Could this be where the 2nd socket should be? It looks cut off, could this be causing our intermittent Issue?
It's not "proper" telephone cable, of the sort that Openreach would use.
However, it does look like the flat cable supplied with some retail telephone extension kits. It's not ideal for broadband as it doesn't use twisted pair cables, and just cutting it off isn't good either - the cable is supposed to be properly terminated at a socket.
