IP Profile stuck at 2mbit vs 3.2 DSL for 18 days - can it be bumped up to 2.5 please

Go to solution

Hi,

My IP Profile has been stuck at 2mbit for 18 days now. It should be 2.5mbit. My sync is 3.2mbit.

My normal IP Profile for last few years is 2.5 or 3mbit.

My line was stable for 13 days until BT reset the line 5 days back after I called to report the problem.

But after another 5 days it refuses to budge up from 2mbit.

From btwholesale speedtest:

Your DSL Connection Rate :3.2 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)

IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

And from my homehub:

Connection time: 5 days, 21:20:22
Data Transmitted/Received: 1.0 GB / 2.7 GB
Broadband username: bthomehub@btbroadband.com

Thanks in advance

I post here after two awful experiences with BT tel support. In neither case could the support engineer grasp that my IP Profile was incorrect for my downstream. First call they tried to convince me my download speeds were slower because it was Xmas and second call that I had nothing to complain about as 1mbit is good for my line 😞

It's unusual for your profile to stick at 2mb with your connection speed.  When it sticks at 2mb it normally for customers on adslmax with max connection sped of 8mb

i would suggest you try 1 reset tomorow about lunchtime and see if that resets profile to correct level and if not then we can ask mods to help as you have already posted a stable 5 days

your noise margin at 9 db is higher than normal 6db is the quiet line test ok and quiet?

Thanks for the help.

I'm fairly sure that simply resetting router my end won't help. I did try that on 29th of Dec after I spoke with Bt and before they reset the line their end.

The 9db is something BT recommend for the length of line (we are some way from the exchange). I have run at 6db for many months on and off but in bad weather it will disconnect. At 9db it typically is solid for many days. TBH I would rather run at 6db as it gives me 3mbit IP Profile which is so much better than 2.5 for streaming etc. But there doesnt appear to be anyway to say "keep at 6db and disconnect every few days is fine..."

I think I am on ADSL Max.

Sounds like a mod intervention is needed?

If you could try the reset as there is no reason it should not reset automatically especially after 5 days stable connection. If it does not reset then we can ask mods to help but I think it is worth 1 attempt

you are on adslmax

I did another reset this evening and it stays stuck at IP Profile 2mbit. Can we get a mod involved please?

Your DSL Connection Rate :3.23 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2 Mbps

That is really not what I expected. The mods will post a contact us link.

After completing the email NOT PM then you join a queue of other customers waiting for mod help. The mods will get back to you in 3/5 working days either by phone or email
