Internet Connection Dropout/ Daily - using a hub (port 1 issues)

Been a BT customer since April. I've had a BT engineer inspect my setup and there's nothing wrong. telephone line sound is perfectly clear.

I have a hub connected to the ethernet port 1, and every day, at least once a day, if not more. my internet drops on the hub.(the hub acts as a wirless booster and i have my pc connected via an ethernet cable to this hub) i beleive i have setup my hub correctly turned off DHCP and so on - as it's worked plenty of times without any interruption. my event log has a lot of activity but i have no idea what it means. wire lan Port 1 seems to go up and down a lot.  sometimes the internet will go off when im not on it, sometimes it's just the wireless. To fix it, sometimes all i need to do is reboot the hub, or take out the ethernet cable and replug it back in.

i never had this problem before with previous serivce provider. i am going to be forced to change provider because this constant interruption isn't great when other people share you're internet and your wifi keeps turning off.

any help greatly appreciated.

Hi @Joshspurs and thanks for posting.

Which hub do you have? Do the lights change when the connection drops? Can you post the event logs so we can take a look?

Cheers

Re: Internet Connection Dropout/ Daily - using a hub (port 1 issues)

I have a home hub 5 and I have an ethernet cable in port one which goes to my study, connected to a tp link router acting as a repeater. Sometimes when I wake up in the morning or when I'm back from work, My tp link router loses Internet and to fix it all I need to do usually is unplug the ethernet cable and replug it. Also if it does lose internet, if I plug the cable directly into my pc, the Internet works. The problem is is I'm not around when it goes offline so I don't know what part of the event log to pass on.

The bt home hub Internet works fine no red lights from what I see.

Thanks for posting @Joshspurs.

From what you've described it sounds like a problem with the TP Link. Can you try connecting directly to the hub and check if there are any drops?

Cheers

Re: Internet Connection Dropout/ Daily - using a hub (port 1 issues)

Well this is the thing, the second router will randomly lose it's internet until i do something.

yesterday i replaced the tp link router with a business hub 5.  it worked beautifully until i got home tonight. same thing internet offline on secound router ONLY. take ethernet cable out of the second router, plug it into my PC, and it works, as i type right now. below is the event log for the main Internet Router. the main router works fine! it might have droppouts causing this problem? I fixed my pc to ip 192.168.1.10 -  also when i asked my pc for troubleshooting help when the pc was plugged into the second router it said 'could not find default gateway'
