Internet connection slow/not responding

I've been having trouble at home with long delays in responses from requests for websites etc. The internet effectitively seems to freeze and doesn't move. This can happen at various times of day and last night there was no service for at least 30 minutes, (the broadband was up all this time with blue lights.) This seems to be a problem from our exchange as I visit and help some "silver surfers" and they complain about similar issues. The exchange has just had another Infinity cabinet installed in the village and perhaps coincidentally we seem to regularly change our "home" location if I do a google search, currently Stanton (Suffolk). I've tried a Google DNS instead of BT but that doesn't appear to be any better. Last night I managed to get some "wireshark" traces and the DNS is not sending a response to the query, but I think this probably points to other network issues as it seems to happenon Google DNS as well. Any thoughts on how I could progress this issue?

Re: Internet connection slow/not responding

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).

can you enter your phone number and post results  remember to delete number  https://www.btwholesale.com/includes/adsl/main.html

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem

Re: Internet connection slow/not responding

you are on adslmax with the max speed of 8mb  your exchange has not been upgraded for 21cn (adsl2) of fiber FTTC  your stats look ok with correct profile and download speed 5mb+

is there any problems shown for your exchange  http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php

the installing of a fibre cab should not have any affect on your adsl connection

Re: Internet connection slow/not responding

have you tried a factory reset of hub using the recessed button on back and holding until lights flash?

Re: Internet connection slow/not responding

Yes, I have tried a full reset, however as per my original post I am not the only one affected, there are a lot of people in the exchange area suffering the same issue. It would appear to be a network failure of some sort. My broadband connection doesn't drop and the speed at all other times is reasonable. It does affect mail applications as well, so isn't just websites. this was last nights trace.
