If you have a spare microfilter, try connecting it up as shown below, and see if it works, and you can still get dial tone on the phone. You will have to unscrew the front plate to get to the test socket. Your one will be slightly different as it an ADSL faceplate, but its the same behind.

Update: None of the above worked. BT chap came and replaced the box.
