Poor internet speed again! I'm loosing the will to live......

Long story short- the Internet speed drops after a few weeks from an already sluggish 4MB to less than 1. Same thing each time, unplug the router, do a reset etc etc etc. try to use the internet as much as possible after this. It's just unacceptable. I pay for a bandwidth, just let me have it, end of discussion? This tiresome rigmarole every couple of months is annoying and time consuming. I live in an area where I do not have an alternative supplier so BT know they have me by the balls and just don't care. If I have to call India again for yet another 1 hour phone call I will probably explode.
Why can't BT deliver broadband capacity in the same way that my electricity supplier delivers electricity? I have a business that requires a lot of electricity for 1 machine, circa 300Kva, and I pay for that capacity to be available to me whenever I want it and it works! I've never been in a position where they have not been able to deliver on their agreement with me.
BT are just useless in comparison - just give me the download capacity that you say I've got and leave me to use it! I don't think I've ever had the capacity that they told me I would have, so I feel that I've been mislead by BT. It's kind of irrelevant as I can't go anywhere else, but if I could I'd gone in a heartbeat.
To put it simply - I hate bad service. I've stuck to my side of the deal by paying you every month by direct debit, so stick to your side of the deal by giving some broadband that actually works. My mobile phone is quicker! Come on BT, you're giving "British" a terrible reputation.

Re: Poor internet speed again! I'm loosing the will to live......

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router you may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or if HH4/5 then go to troubleshooting then logs and you are looking for 2 line together when hub last connected to internet and they will show your connection speed and noise margin or if netgear enter 192.168.0.1). Then run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results ( do not reset the router).

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
