Re: Broadband speed problems

This Seems to be normal for BT, speed in village where i live is 3-4 meg if you're lucky been onto bt loads of times in the last 10 years still the same , i live 200 meters from the exchange, its pityful the speed and service, hope we get fiber soon then kick this rubbish into touch, my router which is one of the white early ones won't be replaced by bt drops out locks up at least 3 times a day, bt won't replace router, won't admit problems, wont fix issues, out of the 4000 residents i don't know any that are satisfied with the service

Wake up BT or you will lose even more customers when you lose the captive customers

Re: Broadband speed problems

welcome to the BT community forum where customers help customers and only BT employees are the forum mods

if you are only 200m from the exchange I would expect an 8mb connection not 3 or 4mb

in order for the forum members to help please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .

are you connected directly via a filter to the NTE5 master or test socket or to somewhere else? Is the master the only phone socket in your home?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
