Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

Yes we are about at the end of the line. I would just like to get back to the 1.1 which we had a week ago!

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

The more you restart the router the worse it will get - your noise margin will get higher and your connection speed will drop - stable connection is best - no manual resets

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

Ok thanks - I will leave it alone. Could this be the problem - I moved it on Saturday and it has not settled down yet?
When I did the quiet line test I did it from an extension so will try from the test socket at the weekend.
Appreciate your help with this.

After you connect to test socket with hub and aks try quiet line test then post results. Always someone around to help

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

I have a fault logged with bt and they need me to be on site and call the level 2 team.
As, when I moved the router, I reset it a number of times, could this have negotiated a lower speed with the exchange? Can the DSLAM be reset as though i were a new customer? This could them negotiate the best possible speed.

I know that a neighbour within the range of my wifi device is getting 1.2mbps as I was able to get onto their wifi last night and do a speed test. I don't know which neighbour it was, but distance from cab and exchange cannot be the issue.

Can anyone suggest how to get the DSLAM reset?

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

you need to get a stable conenction before you will get a manual reset otherwise it is pointless as your conenction will continue to drop and you will just end up back where you started and manual intervention would be wasted.

you need to get rid of the buzz on your line and first step was connecting to test socket to eliminate your internal wiring

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

First step then is to do the quiet line test on the master test socket?

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

yes and see if the buzz is still there and if so report a phone fault as I said already.  you may find that your conenction improves in tyest socket as that should be best connection

Re: Had 3.5, now 1.03 down, .083 up

Ok. Tried the corded phone into the test socket and the tiny buzz was still there so I think it is a red herring and probably the handset.

I have been on to the level 2 team tonight and they have arranged for an engineer to visit next week. They think it has been restarting quite a lot and that may have caused the reduction in speed. Apparently, resetting it will not achieve anything as the noise level on the line is acceptable.

Hopefully I will get back to the 1gb again!!
