Re: Strange problem with broadband. Speed very low.

Seriously BT is an absolute joke.  Seriously considering leaving.  My braodband speed is horrendous, always has been and keeps dropping out all the time, I go for days sometimes not even being able to get on line because of the damned flashing orange light, get it all the time.  They just try to get you to take another contract when you call them.  I paid to upgrade to the latest BT Hub for what?  No blasted change that's what for.  I am connected to my main phone socket and no other phone sockets in the house.  So the BT accelerator is of no use, I didn't buy one as it says it only works if you have multiple sockets which I don't!  I refuse to pay £90 for someone to come and then say nothing we can do.  Seriously a download speed of 0.213 mbs consistently?  Rubbish.  I am on the top package I can have because they have not enabled fibre optic here, well not my cabinet or house.  A total crock and I am hearitly sick of their poor service and just getting a sales pitch when you call to sort it out.  I do not need my computer optiimizing I used to work in IT myself so know how to do all that so £90 for a BT enigneer to patronise me is a waste of money I won't be taking up!  I had faster broadband on dial up you are a nightmare BT get your act together.  Get this, tried to speed test today on BT own speed test and it wouldn't run because my line was too slow.  TOTAL RUBBISH AND A RIP OFF!

Re: Strange problem with broadband. Speed very low.

I have been back with BT since 2007.  Should have stayed with Tiscali, now Talk Talk as their speed was miles quicker.  If I can't get fibre optic why bother?  If I can't get a decent speed why bother my mobile phone service on data is quicker pile of pants!  I will be leaving BT very soon!

Re: Strange problem with broadband. Speed very low.

I moved your post from the old thread as it was marked as solved

if you want help from forum members please can you post the adsl stats from your router may need to 'show detail' to get all stats (if hub enter 192.168.1.254 in your browser and navigate to adsl or use a-z, if netgear enter 192.168.0.1) and run  btspeedtester  (MAC users may have problems). when first test completes then run diagnostic test and post the results .

are you connected directly via a filter to the test socket ?

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Someone may then be able to offer help/assistance/suggestions to your problem
