Over the past few days my connection (that is already slow) has been getting slower and slower.
Last night I rebooted the router to try and fix the issue as i was getting < 0.5M
This resulted in no IP/DNS/etc being issued by the BT network.
There is a connection to the exchange as I can see my download/upload speeds, etc but the BT system is not responding and giving me an IP address.
As I prefer my own router (TPLINK), I thought this might be the issue, so I got the BTHH3 out and connected that instead. This gets the same result the "B" just flashes orange and orange/purple?
After a couple of hours on the phone to a support person who "rest the line" etc, all I have is a "BT Retail servers" problem logged against my phone number.
Any ideas on why I'm not getting an IP?
there is no "local" issue logged on the BT fault system.
are you conencted to test socket with a new filter to eliminate the problem being with your internal wiring?
does phone work? if so try quiet line test dial 17070 option 2 should be quiet and best with corded phone
Yes, same result with test socket
Phone is fine.
Didn't try the quiet line but expect it will be OK as there is no noticeable issue when using the phone.
All I did was reboot the router because the speed was terrible.
did you replace the filter and even the rj11 cable to rule everything out so problem has to be outwith your home and you need engineer visit
you can check here just in case http://usertools.plus.net/exchanges/mso.php
Changed RJ11 and Filter => No fix
There is nothing showing as exchange issues (Eachy) but one in the next town (Bury st edmunds)
As the link to the exchange is fine, I can only assume the BT systems are not responding (Like a DHCP server) to give me the Ip address.
What is interesting is that I only rebooted due to very slow speed, there was a connection, albeit very slow.
did you do just a reset or did you try a factory reset using the recessed button on back of hh3 and holding until lights flash?
Yes, BT support line said to put a paperclip in the reset hole, did that test last night.
Left the router off all night and tried again today, still get the no connection.
Tried with my TPlink and with the HH3, gave up and came to work 😞
well if you have done all that and still nothing with 2 router then looks like a call to CS and request an engineer visit
