Sky told me it’s down to BT

Go to solution
Hello, I’m with Sky and I can have great MBPS and then it drops to nothing.
I have spent much time in the phone changing channels etc.
When will BT be upgrading its whole system to fibre? We are about twelve houses away from the cabinet.
Sky say it’s up to BT update the cable.
Virgin is not available in our street.
I did a DSL checker but can’t seem to attach it.
Just very fed up of constant buffering.
Any suggestions?

Its Openreach not BT Retail that are responsible for the external infrastucture. As this is just a BT Retail customer forum, you need to ask Openreach when you are likely to get a faster connection.

FTTP is only provided in certain areas, and there are only a few providers that offer it.

All you can do is ask.

You probably mean FTTC. Doubt Sky do FTTP.

What does BT Broadband Availability Checker estimate for your phone number? Post just the whole table and the line above it, blanking out your phone number. If it doesn't recognise your phone number, use the Address Checker, not the Postcode Checker.

No, I was asking BT with a view to moving to them.
This won’t happen imminently. Or likely not for 8 years!

Re: Sky told me it’s down to BT

You don't have FTTP there. Only FTTPoD (on Demand), an expensive product designed for businesses.

However you should be able to get the top end of FTTC.

That’s what Sky say. I’m paying for Fibre Max-which is up to 76MBPS which I sometimes get, but then I get nothing as well. It’s most obvious when the children play their online games, or we stream programmes.
