Sudden drop in download speed

For the last day or so, my broadband download speed has dropped to an usuable level.  I've plugged my hub via a microfilter into the test socket of the master socket and left it for 20 minutes or so.  Speedtest results are as follows:

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.13 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 6.52 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.8Mbps
 Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

ADSL info:

Uptime:    0 days, 0:23:50
Modulation:    G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]:    1,176 / 7,391
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]:    7.74 / 6.45
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]:    12.5 / 17.5
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]:    18.5 / 34.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]:    6.5 / 4.0
Vendor ID (Local/Remote):    TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote):    0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote):    3 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote):    0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote):    0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote):    4,496 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down):    0 / 0
CRC Errors (Up/Down):    0 / 87,121
HEC Errors (Up/Down):    0 / 87,227
Line Profile:    Fast

The 'quiet line test' sounds fine.

Any ideas gratefully received...

Re: Sudden drop in download speed

are stats from test socket and if so are you still connected?  do you have other sockets?  have you tried a different filter?

Re: Sudden drop in download speed

Hi,

Yes, stats are from test socket.  I got similar results earlier in the evening from faceplate socket using same filter and a different filter.  I'm still connected to test socket.  Hub is usually located in another room and connected via an extension socket - poor speeds were first noticed yesterday when connected via that extension socket.  I currently have nothing connected to that extension socket and another extension socket remains, as ever, unconnected to anything.

Re: Sudden drop in download speed

I've had to reconnect the faceplate on the master socket (can't leave it like that with kids about), and have tried swapping the cable between the socket and the hub in case that was an issue.  This evening's results:

ADSL info:

Uptime: 0 days, 0:22:24
Modulation: G.992.5 annex A
Bandwidth (Up/Down) [kbps/kbps]: 888 / 5,844
Data Transferred (Sent/Received) [MB/MB]: 2.85 / 13.06
Output Power (Up/Down) [dBm]: 12.5 / 0.0
Line Attenuation (Up/Down) [dB]: 18.5 / 33.0
SN Margin (Up/Down) [dB]: 14.5 / 6.5
Vendor ID (Local/Remote): TMMB / IFTN
Loss of Framing (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Signal (Local/Remote): 17 / 0
Loss of Power (Local/Remote): 0 / 0
Loss of Link (Remote): 0
Error Seconds (Local/Remote): 81,529 / 0
FEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 3,818,876
CRC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 52,411
HEC Errors (Up/Down): 0 / 35,230
Line Profile: Fast

Speedtest info:

Download speed achieved during the test was - 0.9 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 2 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
IP Profile for your line is - 5.16 Mbps

Upload speed achieved during the test was - 0.54Mbps
Additional Information:
Upstream Rate IP profile on your line is - 0.83 Mbps

So the IP profile has been dropped, and the download speed has increased, but it's still too low.

Re: Sudden drop in download speed

the profile has dropped as your connection speed is lower but your download speed is below acceptable level.  you need to contact the mods for help

can take up to 3 working days for mods to contact you
