Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

Well thats an engineer booked for Friday, need it sorted one way or another.

If I plug a phone in I lose connection, don't think that should happen. And as for the quiet line test, thats like rustling a crisp bag.

Get the feeling this is not going to be cheap, will probably need a new cable from pole to house as the previous is inaccessible both externally and internally.

Will BT connect straight to a first floor as opposed to ground floor?

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

If the line from pole need replaced then talk to the engineer about fitting to first floor and see what he says

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

It would make more sense as thats where the modem and phone is.

Apart from the height you would only have one wall to go through as opposed to 2+ with the porch now in existence

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

As i said you can but ask - the problem maybe somewhere else and not in the cable in the porch

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

Is the engineer visit just to establish the problem?

If a cable + holes drilling is required is that another job for another day?

Hoping to get my internet and phone working by Christmas 😉

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

The engineer should be there to fix your connection not just look at the problem

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

Confused !

Log onto the internet today and my speed is back upto 7.9 from the previous 0.2, the engineer isn't due till Friday to check my line!

Now is this speed increase due to action from the mods?

My phone line is still nosiy so am I likely to end up back on slow speeds due to disconnects?

Should I cancel the engineer!?

I have noticed hanging up the phone disconnects the internet, is this a phone fault (brand new BT phone) or a possible line fault?

Happy with my speed increase but feel I'm still going around in circles

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

if your line is still noisey then if that is from test socket then you still need engineer.  the line noise will probably cause your conenction to drop again with noise margin increasing and speed decreasing

Re: Upload faster than download! Oh dear

Just found a reply from the mods (thanks Patrick), unforunately my spam checker had labelled it as spam....doh

So I'm back at a faster speed, will do another check with the "quiet line". This is the first time I'm actually hoping for noise otherwise I'm going to be at a loss to know what to say to the engineer come Friday!
