If it was congestion would it not show on the exchange status checker. I used plusnet to check and its coming up okay?

I'm getting a lot of packet loss which is making certain things impossible. I have no interference, no tvs just a computer running over a cat6 cable. My line is crystal clear since the engineer fixed it all so the problem has to be elsewhere.
yes normally you would see that as either amber or red if there was a problem but it can take time before wholesale update the website
I really cant see it being congestion we are very rural here so its not like there are thousands of people running on the exchange. Plus its happening in the off peak hours, if it was congestion i would expect to see it more in the evening after 5pm as thats when everyone is getting home.
I'm wondering if it could be a bad node or something?

Well i decided to try some online gaming as a test and its pretty much unplayabled. What started off as a good ping 39ms has been constantly up and down reaching the high 400s and friends say i'm jumping all over the place. I get a good minute of low latency until it spikes and repeats over and over. Surely something can be done about this? I've come this far so i'm not giving up on it now.
Should i open a new thread with all the details?
Normal acceptable ping but still some packet loss going on

Morning, its off peak hours now everyone is at work and ping is still a little high but packet loss is the main culprit.
Here is an MTR ran for 10 minutes, i'm getting over 10% packet loss which surely isnt acceptable?

I cant take this any more, i had around a 600 ping this morning so gave in and went out. I've just come back and its still the same. Seriously there must be something that can be done about this, certain things are just impossible whilst its like this.
It cant be congestion because i'm noticing it happening at all hours now, both early morning when everyone is out and late evening when everyone is home. I can only describe it as lag spikes which happen every 15 minutes or so and can last from anything to 5 minutes to a couple of hours.
Am i on the right track with pathping or do you prefer tracert for diagnosing this?
Here is a tracert from just now, i've also been running a mtr from 9pm so i'll post the results of that when its been running a while longer.

MTR ran for just over an hour (9.00-10.24pm), its showing my average ping at 200ms with high packet loss 9/10% and i'm sure if i left this running it would gradually get worse as my ping has been showing at 500ms for the last 20 mins or so. I'll leave this running until midnight and post the results again.
