Re: Very Slow Broadband Speed & Dropping Out

The forum mod team have been in touch and asked me to do another quite line test which revealed the noisy line problem was back. So i am back to square one now and it seems the problem was never resolved. Broadband drops as soon as a i use the phone and the line is noisy when using adsl so exactly the same initial symptons which leads me to believe the high latency is related. Anyway a third engineer visit is scheduled for next week so i will report back once they have been.

In the meantime my connection just keeps getting worse and worse; this is the latest from the bt speedtest today 😞

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.18 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :3.9 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 2.5 Mbps

Re: Very Slow Broadband Speed & Dropping Out

You are never going to improve the connection until you get rid of the noise so hopefully engineer next week will find tbe problem

Re: Very Slow Broadband Speed & Dropping Out

The engineer came last week; mentioned something about me being on cross talk and went off to change wiring from the post to the exchange? I dont have the slightest clue what he's done but its been much better this time, i'm averaging on 6 - 7.5mbps and pings are averaging at 40-120ms. Now that ping is still a little high for my liking, my previous adsl line very rarely went over 60ms but this one does it quite frequently. Still its useable i just wish it could be better. I'm not much of a gamer these days but played a few different online games last night and noticed my ping spiking from 60ms to 120ms every 2 minutes or so making it quite difficult to play. Maybe the connection is yet to stabilise but its been 5 days now so i'm not so sure. I'm seeing similar spikes when running MTR or traceroutes to bbc.co.uk and google.co.uk.
