Its not likely to help, and it may make matters worse, as it has a wider broadband bandwidth to cope with VDSL, so you may get more sync losses due to interference.

I assume you mean 1-2 Mbs not GB Smiley Wink

In order to find out what services and speed range you should be getting, please enter your phone number into this form.

Yes, sorry 1.5-2MBPS

What else can I try - have unplugged the landline from the master socket as we have no use for the landline other than the obligatory line rental charge?

Do any wi-fi boosters help? Am at the end of my tether a bit and am seriously considering satellite broadband providers.

Plug the phone back in and then dial 17070 (free), and select option 2, see if there is any noise on the line, as that will affect broadband speed.

Use the link I provided to tell you what speed to expect at your house.

Wifi boosters will not help if your basic speed is slow. What speed do you get if you connect your computer using an Ethernet cable to the home hub?

It looks like its the best you are going to get, unless Openreach choose to install fibre cabinets near to you.

You could alway enquire.

Unlikely. The issue is simply down to the distance you are from the exchange.
