Wireless drop outs and general rubbish speeds?

I have been having issues with my broadband since last October.  I have regular broadband with a max of 7.5mb.  I had been using a BT Hub 4, the problem was the wireless would just drop out several times per day, the only solution being to turn the hub on and off and all back to normal for what could be 5 mins, it could be 5 hours but rarely would you get a full day without the wireless dropping out several times.

Finally BT admitted the Hub is faulty and are in the process of sending me out a new hub, I got fed up waiting and went out and bought a brand new TP Link router, as I red Hubs in general are rather **bleep**, this Router had good reviews so I said sod it and bought it thinking that would be the end of the problems.

Now I think the below says it all, less than 1mb speed even though I have a connection rate of 8mb.  Any ideas what wrong now?  It seems I two options, I can use a Hub which will give me 5-6mb download speed pretty constantly but drop out minimum 5 times per day, or I can use this router which would give speeds of more than 1mb but wont drop out.  Any advice?

Download speedachieved during the test was - 0.68 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.6 Mbps-7.15 Mbps.
 Additional Information:
 Your DSL Connection Rate :8.13 Mbps(DOWN-STREAM), 0.45 Mbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7.15 Mbps

Re: Wireless drop outs and general rubbish speeds?

Right guys, Its now 6.30 am, I wired up my BT hub again as a speedtest now on the TP link still showed poor speeds.  At this time of the morning I should get 7mb download, on the BT Hub I am getting 0.85mb.

So thats 2 routers with 2 different microfilters giving carp results, the IP Profile of the line is still 8.15mb so that hasn't dropped, its not congestion at the exchange, so what is the problem? 17070 gives no noise on the line.
