broadband keeps on going off twice an hour.

Go to solution

hello, i seem to be having the same problem as a few on here.

for the last few weeks or so,my broadband keeps cutting itself off and coming back on.

this happens twice or more in a hour,it could lose connection for anywhere upto 5-10 seconds or 5-10 minutes but always seems to come back.

its also a lot worse in the day time. this is obviously no good for online gaming.

i have it connected to the test socket i have changed wires and filters and all that.

here is my adsl page. it says ive been connected for nearly 50 mins.it has reset itself because i didnt touch it.

any help would be appreciated.thanks

Re: broadband keeps on going off twice an hour.

speed has dropped and noise margin increased which should help stabilise the line hence the 5hrs connected. do you use an extension cable when you are connected to the test socket?  there are no christmas lights near the connection?

check here for good housekeeping of cables etc

well i used the home hub handset for the test anyway.

i just used the phone to phone the council and the line was terrible with cracks and pops, and was really quiet.

so was that my line or theirs?

getting pretty annoying now.

cheers.

edit; i use the wire that came with the home hub no extension wires. and no definatly no christmas tree wires.

unless my neighbour underneath my flat has an xmas tree in his bedroom, which i seriously doubt 🙂

If the cracks are on your line you'll also hear them during the quiet line test. Does the broadband light on your hub stay blue or does it go to flashing orange or red?
