as the title says my hub 2.0v keeps disconnecting every 20 seconds, when it connects after a vast number of tries the connection only lasts for 20-30 minutes and disconnects again.
the second problem is that my downstream averages around 300kb/s where as it used to be 8mb/s and the even stranger thing is that my upload stream is a bit higher than my download stream, how is that possible ?
please help me this is really getting frustrating

those constant dissconects have distroyed your profile you need to check for noise
Have you tried a quite line test
dial 17070 option 2 and listen - should hear nothing
best done with old type analogue phone digital will do but may have slight hiss
do not use home hub phone
slight hiss on the quiet line test

Noise margin is high and ITU-T G.992.5 is very sensitve to noise but its odd that your profile which is a little low for your down attenuation is a lot higher then your sync speed
can you try with the hub connected to the master socket with nothing else connected ?
im sorry, i dont understand what your requesting me to do
Master socket is the first one in the property just try the router connected directly to that if possible with out any extension or other phones cannected to see if router remains connected
my hub is connected to the master socket like that anyway, oh and i havent got any phones connected to it.
Think I would beg borrow or steal another hub or router as next step
i will have a look through my cupboard and try to find my old hub the white one will post back the results
If that results in the same problem then its over to BT to sort out your adsl
