Yes.  If I were to lump BT, EE, Plusnet and Talk Talk together (which is unfair anyway as their offerings do differ), then I'm left with only at least 34 other ISPs to choose from in my area alone (and there are still over 100 ISPs registered in the UK).  So, no, it's not really going to make that much difference overall in my opinion.  But there you go.

Let’s not get ahead of the game, BT do not yet own TalkTalk, any buyout has to be approved by the Competition Markets Authority. Other ISP’s are quite rightly unhappy about the situation.

Besides, if the deal goes through, it’ll probably be BT customers that have to pay for it in increased bills, so no one should be too excited about it.

Yes. The EE deal took nearly a year from announcement to actual completion.
