Re: 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ Bands BT Smart Hub 2

Go to solution

So, I have checked and have the latest firmware on my SH2. I only really need 2.4GHZ for my Teckin plugs. I base that assumption on the simple fact that everything else appears to work OK. I’ve tried re-installing the Teckin plugs but again they are not connecting.

@m

@makembill

you say you have the latest firmware for BT Smart Hub 2 , is it the latest firmware pushed out that caused the problems v0.26.03.01286-BT   ? or the test firmware pushed out to some. v0.26.04.04227-BT ?

if the first then disable 5GHz band in router settings and try and connect.

Hi

I can now see that this is the reason my wireless printer intermittently works with my other devices.

Please can you let me know how to update the Smart Hub 2 so that I am able to print again!

Thanks

Re: 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ Bands BT Smart Hub 2

Hello

I've just read about this issue: it has made the BBC

I'm having Full Fibre 900mb installed in the last week of May and, working from home x2, will have to make a call on cancelling this  upgrade if there are to be issues with the new kit (SH2 + wifi unit). I have numerous IOT plugs run using a virtual assistant and all work only on the 2.4GHZ band. So much so, that on occasion I have to disable the 5GHZ when setting up new plugs/hardware.

@moderator  (@NeilO) can I please have via DM details on how I can immediately upgrade the new still boxed kit. It was delivered a week or so ago, and whilst the customer service advisor suggested installing it immediately, I am yet to do so. However I will now do this, this weekend prior to the fibre upgrade.

Thanks

I just happened to see an article about this on ISP review and then realised this issue is why I can't control my Sonos Beam anymore from the app.

My smart hub 2 seems to be the issue. apparently I can request it is updated?

Sonos and Sky Q Problems

Go to solution

I switched to BT fibre just under a year ago after being a SKY broadband customer.  I switched over my routers and had no real problems with the Home Hub2.  Over the last month I have had an increased amount of problems in particular with Sonos where my smartphone has ceased being able to find the Sonos speakers to stream music too.  Also I have noticed a similar problem where my Ipad running the Sky Go app cannot find the Sky Q box.  I have been trying to solve this for a while but with no joy, I have lost count of the amount of times I have changed settings or had to reboot my router in the hope I could fix this.  Today I have come to the conclusion that the problem is when my phone or Ipad are connected to the 5ghz connection (Sonos is always on 2.5Ghz), I switched off the 5ghz channel and my phone with the Sonos app can now find all 4 of the Sonos speakers in the house.  Also smart devices with the sky go app seem to consistently find the sky q box and I am able to watch/download programs as I used to be able.

On the down side I have found that the general performance of the system for other devices has not been good, I've experienced problems streaming from the internet and buffering and while working the internet performance has not been up to it's usual performance.

Can anybody offer any advice as to what may be causing these problems?  I can't understand how this worked previously and has now been such an issue.  I am beginning to suspect a hardware issue with the router, is there a way to determine if this is the case?  As  I type this I have also realised I can now longer connect to the router to login to the SmartHub software, so I am just about to reset the router again!  Any advice would be appreciated.
