Re: 2.4GHZ and 5GHZ Bands BT Smart Hub 2

Go to solution

try turning off the 5ghz network then set up your devices which probably want to use the 2.4ghz network  once you have devices connected then turn 5ghz on

have you turned off smart setup in hub manager?

I tried as others suggested separating the two speeds but in the end gave up and bought a philips hue instead which works fine.

I’ll have another look at it but I feel I’ve exhausted all suggestions I’ve come across.

I think that may be the only way forward to protect my scalp from unnecessary balding.

This will not fix the problem of split SSID names for each frequency but the reason i needed this was to setup my smart plugs and cameras. which failed when I got the new smart hub 2. They all run on the 2.4 band and so I disabled 5ghz on the router but still no joy getting the app on my phone to talk to the devices in setup mode.  After googling and reading this thread I thought it was a no go and either cancel the BT service or get new devices. in desperation I tried the mode setting in the Wi-Fi configuration page on the router and changed from mode 1 to mode 2, reconnected my phone and tried again. this time the camera was detected and able to configure, still no joy with the smart plugs. I then changed the mode to mode 3 , reconnected my phone and was then able to detect and configure the smart plugs. Once all done I changed the mode back to Mode 1 and they carried on working. I then enabled the 5ghz channel on the router and so far they have all carried on working including the timer schedules set on the app.

Actually G.fast can provide up to 300mb, and they offer that to businesses and charge accordingly. It's an easy flick of the switch at the exchange.

I'm not sure who you are replying to... but I'm on G fast and it wasn't any more expensive than their standard internet 🙂

Problem with buying new devices is getting smart plugs that work on 5ghz. However, I’ll try this idea and hopefully get some joy.

Does G fast have any bearing on this problem? What is it? Thanks

It has no bearing on it, the post by @firswood  was  probably on the wrong thread by mistake, so please ignore it.
