Hi all in this thread... I've been reading with interest not as a BT customer but as a fellow suffer of the same issue with a different ISP.
You're not alone (see here - http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php/topic,102776.0.html ) I'm having the same problem. I had a decent 37.5Mbps on a 40/2 package, then after an "upgrade" to 80/20 have fallen to speeds between 25 - 30 Mbps down (up has increased to around 16). But it all falls "within acceptable BT limits".
Also check out this thread - http://forums.thinkbroadband.com/fibre/4114263-one-of-the-few-that-hasnt-seen-any-jump-in-speed.html... same issue another ISP, but half way down Martin Pitt
of Aquiss Internet says they found a cure ... not quite the cure you'd want though...
My Order is now completed for 80\20
I'm getting 63\15 and a steady 7.4Mbps on Astraweb
I was a bit disapointed with this at first, its a great speed, but the 40\10 conected at 38\9
So I figured I'd be getting 70Mbps!
See what the 10 days brings!
When my upgrade was activated last Friday I was getting 70/15 and as of Sunday I now get 63/15 too. My IP profile has gone from 72.19 to 64.8 too. It was explained to me on one of the other threads it's due to a change in signal to noise ratio in order to bring stability to my connection. I think it was something to do with line noise I believe. Whilst I am somewhat disappointed I'm not getting at least 70Mb down at the same time I've gone from 5Mb down on BE to 37Mb down on Infinity to now 63Mb with the upgrade. It's a big jump from what I had on BE which is definitely a good thing. In all honesty the real world download difference between 63 and 70 probably isn't that significant at the end of the day.

The difference between 63 and 70 is completely insignificant in today's real World. Very few sites or servers will let you use all of that and even fewer will let you use it consistently, even speedtest sites that are set up for it have trouble as you can see from many grumbl;es on here about them (mistakenly blaming their connection when it's the other sites and servers).
Having said that I sit here being irritated because speedtest.net won't give me more than 69.66Mbps whereas BT beta tester gives 70.5Mbps. It's a totally pointless difference but I still find it irritating!
Speed test results today:-
37.28Mbps down
8.72Mbps Up
After 5 days since the 'so called' speed increase - my IP profile has gone down not up as BT said it would do (within 10 days your speed will be more like your estimation - which was 60.2Mbps Down & 20Mbps Up) I'm sorry BT but this just isnt going to happen!!
As stated by BT, I will wait the 10 days before I contact them again - but rest assured, BT will be getting a 'nice' phone call from me this coming Monday!
Speed test today:-
36.47Mbps Down
8.32Mbps Up
Roll on Monday................(When I can phone BT)
