A good 3rd party Router for FTTP Fibre 100 with Halo 2

I have Fibre 100 with Halo 2 and on the wifi side of things, I get between 35Mbps to  55Mbps which isn't great because before I upgraded to Fibre I got about 88Mbps to about 95 Mbps...I never dropped below 70Mbps. I have checked the speed coming into the  Home Hub and it is 130 Mpbs. So I can't ask BT to look into the problem because they are giving the speed I am paying for.

So I suspect it has nothing to do with the Fibre and the speed coming into the house. I also bought a BT Mesh system known as Whole Home Wi-Fi with three disks and still, it hasn't improved it. So I think it has something to do with the BT Home Hub. So could someone recommend a reasonably priced router like TP-Link AC1600 Wireless Dual Band Router (I don't know if this work well with my FTTP system)?

Thanks

I don't have much faith in these speed checkers, according to speedtest.net my wi-fi speed on 2.4Ghz is 30 up / 35 down when I'm in the same room as the router whereas I get 31 up and 107 down on 5Ghz. Guess which one I use most

Yes, I agree but if you use the same speedtest before the change and after the move to Fibre and you get these poor figures surely there must be something just not right. I have also used various Speedtests and very good one is NetFlix's own one https://fast.com/en/gb/

As I say have tried improving things with BT's Mesh system all to no avail. I have also got TP Links Powerlines and tried connecting with ethernet and still the speed is poor

Have you turned off Smart Setup? it's really not that smart and has been known to cause problems

Funny that as 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz have different link speeds, wow, go figure.

Don't forget splitting the networks.

V_Meldrew, sorry but what are you talking about?? what do you mean smart setup and then about "Sarcky".

I came on here to ask for serious advice about a problem I had with my Home Hub and was wanting for the BT Community to suggest a third party router that may help in raising the speed on my internet.

If you just want to spend your time making fun of my situation then that's ok then I would ask you to kindly move to another thread and make fun of someone else.

Anybody, else want to suggest a third party router?

You misunderstand, that comment was just a bit of fun aimed at @pippincp  not you. The advice to turn off smart setup and split the networks is sound unless you have the Smart hub 2, in which case you can't split them.

You say you came on here to find an alternative device, that's fine if you're mind is made up, I was just thinking we could spare you unnecessary expense by improving the performance of your Humehub.

I  apologize for trying to help, I won't make that mistake again
