banded profiles apply to adsl2 connection like yours

if you stay connected 24/7 then your 10db noise margin should reduce down to 6db with corresponding increase in connection speed.  if work engineer has done has solved the problem and no noise now then the DLM may reduce your noise margin down to 3db which is for good lines with no problems and this would further boost your conenction speed

What's a DLM please and will they take it upon themselves to change the SNR or do I need to contact them and ask them to do this?

Yes, you can ask the helpdesk to do this for you, but normally they're reluctant. DLM stands for Dynamic Line Management which can be turned on or off (on ADSL not VDSL), but it's best to be turned on as it keeps your line stable.

if you just maintain conenction then your noise margin will drop automatically with speed increasing  you cannot get a manual reset to get noise margin down to 3db

I wasn't talking about 3 dB, but you can get it reset to 6 dB.

now 3+ days connection time mods will help and get noise margin reset back to normal 6db  they will post here
