ADSL keep dropping

Go to solution

Hello guys

here is my story...

Since last week, my Internet connection has kept dropping.I contacted BT online help 3 times. On first two occasion I was told that there was a problem with the line after online chat guy did some test while I was waiting. They both raised a fault later I received a couple of calls from ,BT I was told the fault was fixed. They suggested to me to use main socket if it still keeps dropping.Unfortunately it still keeps dropping.I used the main socket ,changed the filter but it is still same.I did a quite line test and I can hear some background noise.

After my last contact with BT online help guy I received a text message from BT which telling me that the broadband line was resetted to stabilise my connection and asking me to keep router on for next 4 days...

My event log is full of

03:01:40,18 May. PPP IPCP Receive Configuration ACK

Re: ADSL keep dropping

Hi Welcome to the forums

Here are some help pages done by CL Keith http://www.btinternet.com/~cbeddoe/speed/Speed.html

also post your full hub stats details shown in this link http://www.btinternet.com/~cbeddoe/others/adslstats.html

Can you also post the full results fromBT Speedtest speedtester.bt.com

Have you tried connecting to the test socket at the rear of the master socket   Test Socket.jpg

Have you tried the quiet line test? - dial 17070 option 2 - should hear nothing - best done with a corded phone. if cordless phone you may hear a 'dull hum' which is normal

Re: ADSL keep dropping

hi the noise needs solving first you need to contact BT faults on 151 and report the noise once that is fixed your broadband should improve do not mention broadband when you report the noise

Re: ADSL keep dropping

those stats look remarkably different you look as if you have internal wiring problems have you removed the bell wire from terminal 3 of every socket this link explains more http://www.filesaveas.com/jarviser/bellwirenutshell.html
also do you have a sky box connected to a phone socket if so has it got a filter fitted to it

Re: ADSL keep dropping

I tried the actual test socket,it is still the same, it keeps dropping...

I called 151 to raise a fault on the line. The guy on the phone thinks tha it might be happening because of my faulty equipment and asked me to use another telephone to check the noise. I need to find another phone to test it.I know it will be the same but ... anyway.

Last stats I attached may be misleading .I must tell the truth I used wireless connection to test btspeedtest. I am attaching the LAN cable results now

Re: ADSL keep dropping

Go to solution
if the noise is still there at the test socket with the another phone then you need an engineers visit
