ADSL up to 17 Mb/s with poor upload speed

Hi,

I have read here that sometimes new connections have been provisioned onto ADSLMax as opposed to ADSL2+ which effectively caps speed.

I think this might have happened in my case, as the upload speed is very poor, reported at 448 Kb/s which would indicate ADSLMax or a cap of some form

Would one of the mods be able to see if it might be possible to remove the upload speed cap for me please?

Thansk Keith - it just shows -- for upload speed on ADSL2+

I previously had ADSLMax on this same line a number of years ago and used to get 832 Kb/s which was the 'Premium' option then, so I would expect to get similar now.  Is there anyway you can find out if the line has been provisioned as ADSLMax or ADSL 2+?

What download speed does it say you should get on ADSL2+

It does show adsl2+ as an option but also with -- for upload.

I am actually using a Draytek Vigor 130.  I do have a Bt Home Hub 4 which I can connect up if that will reveal more info.....

The Draytek shows:-

Stats show adslmax. Can you post dslchecker results so can see what it shows then maybe mods can help

You are on normal ADSL Max.

Using your attenuation figure on the Kitz site I get.

Estimation of your maximum rate adaptive adsl speed

Downstream Attenuation dB Approx Line Length km

dslMAX (20CN) kbps IP Profile kbps         BT 21CN WBC & adsl2+ kbps IP Profile kbps         adsl2+ (LLU) kbps Throughput kbps

So you might get an improvement in the downstream speed moving to ADSL2+, and you should get an increase in upload speed.

Sure here you go.  The only uploda speed suggested though is for Annex M.    This line was previous provisioned with ADSL Max with Demon, and used to achieve the 832 option they offered, so I know it can achieve at least that on ADSl 2+
