Re: ADSL2+ on a Loooong Line - DAY 1

Go to solution

That nice chap Dean (mod team) has just dropped me an email saying that the ADSL2+ order he put in was successful and has noticed I have a slight increase in speed

Thanked him for the increase in speed (which I am happy about by the waySmiley Very Happy) but have asked why my modem is reporting I'm still on 'up to 8mb' (ADSL Max)

A change to Infideon from Alcatel and the BT Speedtester results certainly points to me being switched to 21CN

WBC on Friday

Thanks for putting up with all my questions by the way !

OK, so its D Day....

My modem stats show the changover was around 1am this morning

Initially ADSL2+ is shown in the status log but then changed to ADSL2 straight away - I'm not complaining !

Logs also show no resets since the 1am changeover.

Actual Line Attenuation is at 72.9db rather than what is shown below.

A bit sad me being so pleased with 1.3Mb but just watching youtube and iPlayer vids (std def) without buffering is a major step forward for me

don't see it as 'sad' as it is all relative and you now have a better connection making the internet better for youSmiley Wink

it is better than before and may still improve a bit just a matter of letting it settle during its training period

Not meaning to get your hopes up or anything but...

Fingers crossed if your line stays stable, the DLM may try you on the 3.0dB Target SNR Profile :D. Don't hold me on that though because I'm not sure if it applies to a line with a high 63dB+ attenuation 😉
