I didnt know you were able to cancel your contract due to the price rise.

 

If so, is that without penalty ?

So if one is currently paying £10 a month on a 12 month contract, this would increase to around £12 (can leave contract anytime)?

 

I assume if you enter a contract for a set price, price hikes would void this?

The price rises apply to all customers unless you were advised at the time of starting your contract that your contract included the "new" price rise.

 

BT usually send out an email to its customers when there is a price rise and it includes the following.

 

"We want to make sure you get the best deal for you. So, if you want to change something, or even leave because of these price changes, and you're within your minimum contract period, you'll need to call us within 30 days of receiving this email to avoid paying a charge for leaving early. You'll need to give us 30 days' notice to leave (or 14 days5 if you're switching provider), starting from the date you ask us. We won't charge you the increased price during that time."

No, you have 30 days to leave from the time of notification (letter/email).

If you check your Terms and Conditions, which I'm sure you will have done before you signed up, you will see that payment has been deferred for the period of your contract after which it becomes your property. If you cancel before the term of your contract you have to hand the equipment back or you will be charged for it.

I'm hoping I'm fairly well shielded from this, as I paid a year's line rental upfront, and have INF 1 and weekend calls for £10 a month.

Does anyone know whether/what they will increase my £10 by, or if they'll try to charge any extra for the line rental I've already paid?
