You can't be the first one on this forum to use one of those routers, do a search and see what you can find
Sorry, I'll have to pass on that one
Try this one, I found it by searching Google for asus DSL-AC88U ipc6023

I did see that other post but had rather hoped that with new firmware this problem would have gone away.
Many thanks for your help with this one - unfortunately it looks like this router is going back to Currys.
Any recommendations on Router/Modem combinations that are proven to work with BT Sport and give a good coverage as well as speed?
Sorry no, I use the BT supplied one. The TP-Link ones get a lot of mentions and seem to be quite popular on here though

Thanks for all your help - it is deeply appreciated. I’ll do more research on compatibility with BT Sport before I buy anything else.
I use the Asus DSL-AC68U which gives excellent wifi coverage and perfect BT Sport reception. Also alot cheaper than the AC88U. Still in stock at Curry's.
The only longer term downside is that it doesn't support G.Fast broadband.
Thank you for this any your previous posts - I'll give this router a look.
Thought I'd just add something about the wifi coverage.
Ours is a large 4 bed semi built 1926 so solid walls etc.
The router is in the centre of the house on the upstairs landing and in all rooms I get near max speed (45meg) on any wifi device.
Our garden is 30m long & I can get near 20meg at the bottom of the garden so I'd say that's pretty good.
