Access control through my bt app

Go to solution

Hi,

A few weeks ago i got upgraded to the bt home hub 2. Because i have teenagers i've setup access control on it. But recently when i checked on it its been disabled (see image) and it says you need to use the "my bt" app. I have that but no where on the app  can i find the access control. Can this app nonsense be turned off? i don't see the added value of everything needs to be controlled by a app and can someone direct me where to look in the my bt one

kind regards,

B

Re: Access control through my bt app

@bielesibub  : Had a lengthy and very frustrating chat conversation with technical support but all they did was redirect me 3 times to the access control page to turn in on/off but 3 times i had to tell them i got that messages as above and i couldn't do anything I just gave up in the end. It seems they released a feature not entirely supported yet not even by their own technical support. Due to me having already some rules in place before the upgraded the firmware of the router it blocked some of the kids devices the only means to resolve it was to factory reset the whole device. I really hope they sort this out...

I don't use access control and agree that controlling it via an app is probably not the best idea in the world, however, if you open the app and select 'more' in the bottom right hand corner then 'your wifi network' access control is via 'Control wifi access for your devices'

@licquorice : Why call it wifi access control? most of the devices i've wired up. This is quite confusing and poorly though off. I'll give this a try thank you very much.

Totally misnamed and completely unintuitive. Ethernet connected devices are also listed.

Thanks @licquorice the app does have the feature, I just had to go through the 'Begin setup' thing, which didn't make much sense to me last night and doesn't this morning either. Anyhows, thanks again.

Agreed. Its the usual total nonsense from BT, I think they go out of their way to make things as deliberately obtuse as possible.

Re: Access control through my bt app

I have just discovered that you can set access control in the BT App but my question is - I want to be able to continue to control access on my PC as well as using the App - can I do that?  Don't see how to download an APP to a PC?

Thanks
