Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

I suspect all access to vanilla Yahoo services should have stopped at that time but due to the usual incompetence, access was never full withdrawn until recently when the mail migration recommenced.

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Dear All, Success at last or should I say YAHOOOOOOO,

Not sure whether this work around will work for others stuck in a BT quagmire or simply my own incompetence, but I have just been able to recover all my Yahoo finance data from Portfolio's. Having been using Safari these past few months without a hitch, switched over from Google Chrome due to other issues, but once I logged onto the Yahoo.com page via Google Chrome web browser I was able to use my Btinternet.com log in details as before. All Yahoo services available as before. So this shuts the door on whether the data is in fact lost due to services being closed years ago. Its all there and still live. Anyhow low and behold all the pages came up and I was then able to set up new Yahoo account within the same home page ( former BT Yahoo account pages ) and then export all my data from one account to another without any hitch. The key for me was changing browser. Not sure if any Cache issues, or History issues influenced this outcome, but it worked 100% for me. So if you still have a BT email page that clearly shows both BT and Yahoo mail logo's, I assume this fix will work for you. Might even work otherwise. Anyhow, thanks for all your responses. I received more support from this forum instead of the num nuts at BT. Many thanks again.

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Would you mind sharing the solution if there is one?

Is there a solution other than registering with Yahoo again - assuming that I can, since my email address will already be in their systems?

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Unfortunately it didn't work for me.  Using Chrome and Safari, trying to open my portfolio sends me to the sign-in page and if I try signing in, it sends me to the BT sign-in page... vicious circle

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Dear Hollimana

Sorry to hear you have similar problem to me. If you have BT Logo, along with Yahoo mail logo on your email page heading, chances are you have not been migrated yet. That is the story I was given by BT, despite the run around on all other matters relating to recovery of Yahoo service files. I found on the web that Internet Explorer was not supported, which led me then to question whether my usual web browser Safari may be suffering the same fate or otherwise not a supported version update. Anyhow, I changed to Google Chrome and hey presto is worked. I was able to log into Yahoo.com financial services using my btinternet.com  / password details. Once logged in I could open new account and migrate the data required from my old account to the new. Of course for the new account I now sign in with a Yahoo assigned user / password. Not sure if this works for you, but after endless BT call centre hours and looking on the web for solutions, I somehow stumbled across what seems to be a simple solution. But maybe other factor at play, so good luck. Maybe try other web browsers than Chrome or Safari. Might help to clear your cache, but not sure whether that helps since I did not do it. Good luck

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

I also had to the vicious cycle of going round and round the BT sign in page loop. May have something connected to the cache / history erc but switching browsers finally got me out the loop. Everybody until then said it was impossible, so dont give up.

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Very annoying indeed!!

I contacted BT directly.  I think they ended up decoupling my BT email account from Yahoo Finance.  I then had to create a Yahoo account and rebuild my portfolio from scratch.

It now works fine, but I don't think there's an easy solution to this.

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

Not sure if I had the same problem (what's delegated authentication?), but...
After experiencing similar issues withbeing unable to log into Yahoo Mail (Desktop PC using Firefox), I simply fired up Chrome and, even with BT still running in Firefox, I was able to access both Yahoo.co.uk and Ymail accounts using the Chrome browser.

Re: Accessing yahoo after migration to Bt mail using delegated authentication

As the thread shows, that was my same experience. I was not able to access my Yahoo.co.uk finance Portfolio or any other Yahoo service. Once I changed web browser to Chrome, no further problems. Would have been nice if the guys at BT had known of this very simple fix, but maybe it does not work for all. I was able to export my existing Yahoo portfolio into a new account and thus decoupled from any BT legacy just in case this simple fix gets somehow closed down. Apologies but I cannot explain why this worked for me and not others.
