Activation

I ordered BT Infinity and received notice of an engineer’s visit which duly happened on appointed day, 4th Mar 13 but he could do nothing because my previous provider, Sky, had been told this was the activation date and disconnect me. It now turns out that the activation date is 18th Mar. I called Sky but they could not re-connect me. Is this normal practice for BT, if so it seems a totally inefficient way to use their engineers and gets new customers really annoyed?

I'm confused, your post doesn't make sense! Do/did you have fibre with sky?
