You've actually been put on the "Up to 8 Meg" ADSL Max instead of the "Up to 24 Meg" ADSL2+ that you were promised at sign-up.
On ADSL Max you should be getting about 6.5 Meg Data rate. Were you to move to ADSL2+ you would get about 7.2 Meg Down but your Up Data rate would be about 1 Meg.
@XRaySpeX I signed up for the up to 17meg package although I was promised only 8meg - don't know why they can't do up to 17meg. I could cope with this if it was what I was getting but the 3meg that I am getting is ridiculous. Thanks
you can only get as fastas you line can handle which is shown in the dslchecker results
with your attenuation I would be looking for about 8/9mb connection speed
@imjolly: Yes, I'd go by the attenuation rather than the BTw Checker.
Yes, at the current attenuation, 41.5 dB, ADSL2+ will give 8-9 Meg, but generally going from ADSL Max to ADSL2+ the attenuation increases by 3 dB. So I'm saying about 7 Meg.
I signed up for the up to 17meg package
Yes, that's ADSL2+. By advertising rules BT can only advertise it as "Up to 17 Meg" but technically it is really "Up to 24 Meg".
