All Sent Mail has disappeared

Hi,

I've pursued this with BT and shockingly they tell me the sent mail is irretrievable! the folder seems to empty every few days. There must be a way to a) get the old sent mail back and b) stop it from disappearing.

Hi @davidashcroft

Welcome to the Community!

Could you let me know how you access your mail? Through your web browser, Outlook, iOS Mail etc.

Thanks

Hi, welcome to the forums.

Sounds like you're using webmail via a browser only. Are you with BTYahoo or BTMail? Webmail shows a Yahoo image top left for BTYahoo.

Unless you specifically need to only use webmail - the best thing to do is use a mail client (e.g. Thunderbird, Claws Mail) - that way you effectively control the system. Setting up as IMAP is essential.

If you are using a device like smartphone/tablet etc - are you deleting them from that device? If you do, it will sync with the server and delete them.

Re: All Sent Mail has disappeared

Hi - BTMail

Certainly in future I will use a mail client (although that shouldn't be necessary - one expects BT not to lose your mail!) - however in the meantime - how can I get my sent mail retrieved?

And no - its definitely not that they've been deleted from another device...

In fact I know of a friend who has the exact same problem. Can technical support look into this please? BT support have failed to call me back twice now.
