A landline phone is essential, and a basic one costs less then £5. Useful in an emergency as well.

Without one, you risk a £130 charge, as the fault could be within your own wiring.

forget that test the wholesale one is the one that is accepted for speed problems as the further diagnostic test is stored on wholesales servers

I think i've resolved it...it wasn't anything to do with the router etc in the end.  I noticed in the second screenshot that my data sent was massively high, especially as I'd only re-set the router a few hours ago. Looking at task manager and ethernet usage I was sending data a a steady 35mb.  A bit more digging and it must have been the last windows 10 preview build I put on had changed my 'choose how updates are delivered' settings so i was acting like a p2p hub for windows updates.....turned it off and my speeds are as I would expect.
