Annoying Internet issues for over Five days.

Go to solution

So, was using my Internet casually about 5 days ago and then BOOM, the Internet starts disconnecting and reconnecting as if the connection was being refused, it was because our contract had expired but even after getting the contract renewed the Internet was still not working, somehow the router became faulty and we needed to wait for a new smart hub to be sent, to replace the HUB4. The Internet is working now, but now we have the Internet speed of a potato, how does a nice and stable internet go from good to really bad?

Your interent didn't stop due to your contract expiring, in that event you go onto a 30 day rolling contract until you either renew or cancel. The only time to renew a contract is if you get a better deal.

Try a quiet line test 17070 option 2 with a corded phone. The line should be silent. Any noise report a line fault don't mention broadband.

I'm not sure about that, this is the second time my Internet has completely stopped working and been given the " You need to renew your contract " reason over the phone, then the internet just suddenly starts working once that is done.

Anyway I don't have a corded phone sadly so I think the sound I am hearing is coming from that and not my line when trying to do a silent test but I cannot be sure, over the five days of not having an internet connection BT has done a line test over 3 times, with one of them the guy looking into the line for over an hour and not being able to find any issues. Should I just report a line fault anyway and see where it goes from there ;o?

If my internet was connecting and disconnecting non-stop over the period of not having internet ( maybe it was a faulty router ) could it be the DLM thing that is killing my line atm, and I just need to wait ;o?

A  corded phone can be purchased from a well know catalogue store for about £5 and is a must for when you have a broadband problem as a line issue is mostly (not always) the cause.

The added bonus is you will still have a working phone in the event of power cuts.

If you are getting the same sort of figures when connected to the test socket behind the removable faceplate of the master socket, you need an engineer visit.

I'd have to agree with @licquorice here @Touhoumusic

Can you try the test socket behind the master face plate and let me know how you get on?

Cheers

David

Thanks for the suggestions 🙂 I'll give the test socket a go early tomorrow when I have some energy and report back what I find.

Thanks guys.

@DavidM @licquorice Hey guys.

So I managed to get into the test socket but sadly the speedtesting and that is still showing the same speeds when not put into the test socket :{. It should not cost for a BT Engineer to come out now, if I'm still having the same issue with the test socket right ;o?
